House Vinee (Franschhoek)
House Vinee (2025)
Franschhoek
The original brief for this 1880 heritage cottage in Franschhoek was to save it from irresponsible previous additions and alterations, which caused major water penetration problems from below, above and through the walls, seriously undermining the longevity of the structure.
The brief developed further and became a major restoration project which not only required addressing all the various complicated water penetration issues but also refurbishing floors, walls, ceilings and sanitary ware, as well as requiring new custom-designed joinery for doors, windows and ironmongery.
Triggering heritage legislation meant acquiring Heritage Western Cape permits approval as well.
The successful outcome will ensure that this piece of heritage will endure for another generation or two.
