House Van Wyk (Pringle Bay)

House Van Wyk 2024

In progress

This holiday house, which started out as a small cottage 50 years ago, underwent additions in 1996. Since then, the owner’s needs has evolved further, with a larger family translating into more accommodation and improved utilities. This, together with a context which developed into a prime sea-side village with increasing property values and more permanent residents, triggered the decision to engage in a major additions and alterations project.

The siting of the property, at the foot of the mountain, in High Level Road Pringle Bay, with one-hundred-and-eighty degrees sweeping sea views, is enough reason to re-think the existing building and to maximise the opportunities apart from addressing the aesthetics which will be updated to a timeless character.

The new program will add much value with more bedrooms and en suite bathrooms, including sunny lounge areas, while opening up the ground floor living space to ensure a continuous flow and connectivity with the outside entertainment area and views. This is all accomplished with thoughtful re-planning, increasing the footprint by only 10 square meters.
